We used two different local agencies. #1 was about $11K and #2 was about $13K. #3 will be less than #2 because we are using the same agency. I can't remember the breakout, just that you pay in installments as you went through the process (initial deposit, homesteady, placement after birthparents terminate parental rights and finalization).

You know I looked back at my post & see it might seem like you should add all the figures for a total. Sorry bout that..
Our TOTAL costs were..
1= $4,500
2= $4,500
3= $9,200
Did not mean to be unclear. We highly reccomend Independent adoption, just be careful to consult an attorney before ANY money changes hands.
Good luck if you decide to adopt again!

These responses just go to show that you should do your homework when it comes to adoption. For us it worked out all for the best, but if we do it again we will need to be very mindful of expenses.
Thanks!
We have adopted 3 children, newborns & we never used an agency. We located the older 2's first moms through word of mouth & after meeting contacted an attorney. Our son we located through an online contact.This is estimated...
#1 in 1997 costs were $4,500.oo
$1,200=Homestudy, $800=Hospital, $2,500=Legals
#2 in 2002 costs were $4,500.00 $1,000=HS,$3,500=Legals
#3 in 2004 costs were $9,200.oo $1,000=HS,$5,000=B-mom's agency, $3,200=Legals(this time we paid a lawyer for B-mom & 1 for us)

The only fees we ever paid before we brought each baby home was the HS fee, everything else was only paid after relinquishment was signed.

We adopted our son (Newborn domestic) 8 years ago... watch out they grow up fast !!

We spent 14thousand. Without digging out paperwork I can not really breakdown the cost.

3 years later our agency approached us about adopted a 17month old girl. Because they came to us the cost were very minimal around 1thousand.
