I've ended my self-imposed blogging vacation a couple of days early. Apparently I just can't seem to stay away! I've been reading everyone's posts, and although it's been nice trying NOT to think about adoption, it hasn't (completely) happened, so here I am.
Things I've also been thinking about:
- my new job, which starts on Friday
- our puppy, Pepper, who is now officially ours since he's been to the vet and I spent $150 on him.
- Christmas, and how I'm ahead of everyone I know but I feel so behind!
- my kids. They're both doing super but Little J, the fella we adopted from Russia, is persistently cranky. I don't know if it's just a phase, something else that's going on, or if it's just his personality. I'm hoping for a phase.
- new clothes. For my job I'll need to wear something other than 8-year-old jeans and sweatshirts, so I've been shopping and shopping. Mostly at thrift shops (which are fantastic where I live) but also retail. It's the first time in 5 years I've bought new things for myself besides underwear and running shoes. It feels kind of good! As a devotee of TLC's What Not To Wear I also feel like I'm making good choices in the wardrobe dept. Thanks, Stacy and Clinton! (That may sound completely frivilous, but the school, specifically the library, I'll be working at is very shabby and depressed and plain old ugly. I have been charged with making it a great and lovely place to be, in addition to upgrading the collection. I figure why not start with myself? I had it when librarians are frumpy, anyway).
- My new project, Kultura, a newsletter for kids adopted from EE.
- My new neice, Chloe! She and I have the same birthday and she's now 1 week, 2 days old. I can't wait to meet her!
So, not too much adoption-related, except for my own children and the newsletter...so I did a good job on my vacation. But now we're back to business...and I'll be trying to post every day. Upcoming: general posts about how-to adopt from locales around the globe, more book reviews, and what else? Not sure...time will tell!
